Quarterly Q and A October 2026
In our October 2026 quarterly Q&A, advisors Sonia Jenkins, Dylan Blomgren, and Peter Ketchand share their latest look at the economy and markets.
Sonia opens with an economic update. She covers the U.S. recession dashboard, where job sentiment is the one lagging indicator, and trends in student loan, mortgage and credit card delinquencies. She also looks at how consumer confidence near historic lows compares with how markets have done historically, and at how AI is changing the workforce. So far it’s adding to workers rather than replacing them.
Dylan covers the markets. His topics are energy costs across income levels and how concentrated the S&P 500 is in its ten largest companies. He also compares valuations for small-, mid-cap and international stocks and looks at how markets have historically performed after midterm elections.
Peter closes by looking beneath the headline numbers. He covers what’s driving consumer spending, corporate profit margins and valuations, and the debt-funded build-out of AI infrastructure. He then explains how asset allocation and diversification fit into our approach to managing risk.
Our quarterly updates are meant to make complex financial topics more approachable.
